After weeks of Japanese travel and general unavailability - Sunday dinners are back. This week we stay close to home, my home that is. It took me a surprisingly long time to eventually get around to this place. It is standard table top BBQ with quality ingredients and great prices. The location, under the trees in the park next to the national gallery is also fun.
This restaurant is also home to one of the happiest employees in all North China. At the edge of the outdoor section there is an area for lighting the coals for the braziers. Although this task has been made somewhat less hazardous through the addition of a metal enclosure the xiao huozi [dude] who's job it is to man the large 'snail' fan that forces air through the stack of braziers heating up, still extracts great joy from trying to singe the leaves of the tree above with vertical jets of flame and embers. I only envy him a little.
